Simulator Raceway Townsville Event
Well another year and another crazy 2 weeks. It all started the week before the 400 with the Townsville show. Simulator Raceway, Zinc radio station and 888 racing ran a 3 day competition using the new FVRFACTOR Townsville track and the FVRFACTOR FVRV8 2010.

The top 4 lap times of the show have the opportunity to race one of the 888 race drivers. We had over 350 people complete a warm up lap and then 2 hot laps to record their best time. During the last day the times got extremely close. We ran with the helps on to make it far for everyone. At one stage the top three times were 1.12.001, 1.12.033, 1.12,059.
Our four competition winners were:
MATTHEW OGG 1:11 589
STEVEN HAGIAGLOU 1:11 883
WILLIAM FRANKLIN 1:12 001
DAVID SPRIGINGS 1:12 059

Ok Race week starts:
First driver in was Karl Reindler from BJR and our formula ford team. Karl had not seen anything about the Townsville track and didn’t even know the direct it went. Karl spent a good 2 days with us running thru 1.6b to 1.6e and doing heaps of laps. He really loved it, Tom Williamson who drives in the BJR formula ford team and Brads son Macaulay also stayed and raced for the 2 day.

Next in was Fujitsu driver Marcus Zukanovic, Marcus has never driven a simulator before but after spending about 4 hours here he was blown away. Loved what the boys at FVR had done and was really excited about driving the Townsville track for real.

Marcus.
Next Mini driver John Modystach , John practiced here last year and has been using Rfactor to keep his skill up. John jumped straight in the mini’s got some good laps in. John and Glenn Seton where to coming down Thursday night but got held up with other promotion.

Ok Thursday morning at sparrow’s fart we set up shop at the major shopping centre in Townsville. Zinc, 888 and us where doing a combined live on air radio show, autograph signing by the drivers and the finalization of our racing competition. Doors open around 6am and the boys start practicing soon after. The 4 winners have to do a shoot out fastest lap style to see who will race Jamie.
The competition winner is MATTHEW OGG by less than half a tenth from DAVID SPRIGINGS, (also an FVR member)

Test laps by me to see if the simulators are close. Beat I couldn’t do that again. Lol
L&H function.
Well both Frosty and Richo had function conflicts that night so poor old Simulator Raceway got the flick, however they replaced both the drivers with Michael Caruso.
He only stayed around a hour or so but have about half hour of racing with the L & H customers as well as Karl Reindler who just happened to sticker around for more laps.

Well most of the team came down to meet their local BOC gases customers, Brad Jones and Jason Richards along with the formula ford team and Brad’s son. It took us about 2 hours to get Jason out of car 3. He raced every customer before signing some autographs. He then jumped straight back into car 3 while giving Brad a huge amount of lip about being old and slow and it was all on again. The photos tell the story of some fun racing and then of the serious racing. Awesome night.

Team building lol

Serious stuff

Formula Ford
Well not the best weekend racing for the BJR formula ford team. Halfway threw Friday Zac engine went flat and no matter what we did we couldn’t find the problem. If we had a spare we would have changed it over night. Then race 1 the other driver Tom got run up the fence and flattened the whole left side of the car. 7 hours later the car was ready to go, not to mention the dollars to fix it.
We then found 2 broken shocks on Tom’s car from the accident, so not a good weekend. HOWEVER we pulled something out of our arse’s and got not a bad result on Sunday.
Tom finished 6th and Zac 11th. Zac also got the hard charger award for 21st to 11th with an engine that was flat as. Helped that half the other cars were up the walls somewhere. Lol

Anyway guys it was a crazy 2 week, I’d like to thank the guys at FVR FACTOR for all their help, they are a marvelous group of guys. Your work is top class and we love it to death.
I will try and get some more stuff together later.
Thank Adam (TSV_1)
